Desempenho em probabilidade condicionada e probabilidade conjunta de futuros professores do ensino básico

Abstract

Neste artigo estuda-se o desempenho de 46 alunos do 3.º ano da Licenciatura em Educação Básica de uma universidade portuguesa na resolução de questões que envolvem probabilidade condicionada e probabilidade conjunta. A estes alunos foi aplicado um questionário com quatro itens de probabilidade condicionada e outros quatro de probabilidade conjunta. Em termos de resultados, globalmente, os alunos revelaram pior desempenho nos itens relativos a probabilidade conjunta do que nos de probabilidade condicionada, destacando-se nas respostas corretas o cálculo explícito ou implícito da probabilidade em questão. Nas respostas erradas, na probabilidade condicionada salientou-se o facto de os alunos ignorarem o acontecimento condicionante e a confusão da probabilidade condicionada com a probabilidade conjunta. Na probabilidade conjunta adicionaram probabilidades em vez de as multiplicarem, não combinaram, total ou parcialmente, as probabilidades determinadas de forma explícita ou implícita para obterem a probabilidade pedida, consideraram a probabilidade de apenas uma das ordens possíveis e determinaram o valor de probabilidade de apenas um dos acontecimentos.
