Challenger is a dual purpose cultivar of Helianthus tuberosus L. producing a large mass of dense top growth and bearing tan-colored, white-fleshed tubers. Total carbohydrate content of the tubers ranged from 14.5 to 20.0% (FWB), of which 65–82% was fructose.
