NEOI : Des hommes nouveaux dieux entre Grèce et Rome. Quelques réflexions en guise d’introduction

Abstract

Partant d’une étude lexicale sur les titulatures des rois hellénistiques qualifiés de « nouveau dieu » (neos Dionysos par exemple), ce dossier s’intéresse à l’évolution religieuse de telles pratiques entre les mondes grecs et romains à la fin de la période hellénistique et sous l’Empire romain. Il interroge la formule lexicale elle-même, la valeur de l’adjectif neos / nouus par rapport aux épiclèses divines proprement dites, et la chronologie de ses emplois, dans les titulatures officielles, mais aussi dans d’autres sources de différentes natures qui interprètent cette assimilation entre une figure du pouvoir et une divinité. Ce chapitre introductif précise les enjeux du dossier constitué de quatre articles qui mettent en lumière un aspect particulier de la question.
