Abstract

We study in this contribution the way in which the enunciative heterogeneity is prosodically marked in verbal interaction. We note from the beginning that the theories of utterance production “à la française”, beyond their differences, have had little interest in prosodic, vocal and gestural dimensions of the discursive units under study. Based on the analysis of a corpus of 3 political radio interviews, we first study, from a prosodic and dialogical point of view, some prototypical markers of dialogism (direct speech, pseudo-cleft sentence and echo) before examining some cases where prosody is itself a marker of dialogism. The results of the contribution show the double role of prosody in the dialogic functioning (i) as an accompaniment of a prototypical marker of the enunciative heterogeneity and (ii) as a marker of dialogism.
