Interlingua (i.a.) is a planned language produced by the International Auxiliary Language Association, NY 1951. Its vocabulary has been extracted from the Western langages (mainly romance) and its grammar is very simple. Easily understood without previous study, it does not require any lengthy learning. Being nobody’s mother tongue it helps creating contact between people of various origins. Besides, as a somewhat common denominator of the ethnic languages used for its elaboration, it shows the structural features they partake and the contact they entertain.
