Abstract

Historique des recherches et point des connaissances. Après la découverte en ce lieu de l'inscription hiéroglyphique la plus occidentale connue, à 800 km à l'ouest du Nil, l'existence de relations suivies entre les populations du désert Libyque et celles du Nil ne fait désormais plus aucun doute, mais l'une des questions encore en suspens est de savoir si le Jebel el-'Uweynât constituait une sorte de terminus, ou si la route y conduisant se prolongeait plus loin encore vers l'ouest ou le sud-ouest.
