
Since its foundation in 2002, EFSA has received ten requests for urgent scientific or technical support, all coming in the last six years. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) needs to be fully prepared to ensure the provision of urgent scientific and technical advice, and related risk communications. Such preparation enables the Authority to respond quickly and efficiently to support risk managers and contribute to the protection of European consumers, with the aim of precluding a food chain crisis.
