As a graduate of a baccalaureate program in nursing and a teacher in a baccalaureate program, the author has become increasingly concerned with the gap between what students are taught and what they are expected to do as graduates. She discusses this vexing question and suggests two measures to help baccalaureate program students gain some of the skill and confidence which can help them as beginning practitioners, particularly in hospitals.
