Waldo Rojas was born in Concepci?n, Chile in 1943. As with other talented writers of Latin America, his advanced studies included architecture and history in addition to literature. He was a member of the Writers Workshop at the Universidad Cat?lica de Santiago. He served as editor of the Bolet?n de la Universidad de Chile and of the Revista de Educaci?n published by the Ministry of Education. His volumes of poetry include Agua removida (1964), P?jaro en tierra (1965), Pr?ncipe de naipes (1966), Cielorraso (1971), El puente oculto y otros poemas, M?xico (1976), El puente oculto, Madrid (1981), and Almenara (1985).1 Similar to the situation of many intellectuals and members of the artistic community, Rojas found himself obliged to leave Chile, and has taken up semi-permanent residence in Paris since 1974.
