Purpose of the article. On the basis of research of scientific work of M. I. Tuhan-Baranovskyi to analyze the economic heritage of an outstanding academician. Particular attention should be paid to the figure of M. Tuhan-Baranovskyi as a well-known researcher in the field of economic theory, economic history, history of economic thought, cooperation, social issues. Methodology. Bibliographic and other general scientific methods are used: historical and system approaches; theoretical and empirical methods of description and modeling; sourceand statistical analysis. Methods of analysis of historical sources and synthesis of information are applied. These methods provided an opportunity to thoroughly investigate the scientific, pedagogical, socio-political activities of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist-economist M. I. Tuhan-Baranovskyi. Scientific novelty. The article on the basis of collected and generalized objective data analyzes in detail the history of biographical and bibliographic works dedicated to M. Tuhan-Baranovskyi, considers their content, information content. The range of bibliographic documents is outlined, which include information about the works of Professor M. I. Tuhan-Baranovskyi, materials about his life and career. The necessity of creating the most complete scientific and auxiliary bibliography of the scientist is determined. Conclusions. Economist M. Tuhan-Baranovskyi left a significant legacy in the development of political economy, money circulation, agrarian and taxreforms, cooperation, sociology, which play an important role in reviving the economic life of society. The ideas and fundamental works of the scientist have not lost their relevance today. Studies of sources containing biographical and bibliographic information about the works of Academician M. Tuhan-Baranovskyi and publications about his life and work, give reason to talk about the need to prepare an academic bibliographic index of the scientist.
