Un caso clinico in poesia: La Eliófila di Antonio Mezzanotte

Abstract

"La Eliofila" (1842) de Antonio Mezzanotte (Pérouse 1786-1857) met en vers le "cas clinique" vrai de la jeune Ninette Delille, morte amoureuse du Soleil dans la clinique du Dr. Esprit-Silvestre Blanche (père du plus célèbre médecin de Nerval) à Paris, en 1833. En France ce cas méconnu s'inscrit dans le mouvement vers une première médicalisation de la folie, qui se donne sur l'onde de la Révolution et qui sera, avec la loi du 30 juin 1838, le résultat de l'action de médecins aliénistes célèbres tels que Philippe Pinel et Jean-Dominique Esquirol. L'article reconstruit les relations qui se donnent entre 'discours' médical sur la folie et le poème de Mezzanotte, ainsi que les voies et les raisons qui font que ce cas clinique arrive à intéresser l'Italie du XIX siècle.
