Recognition and promotion of cultural diversity is a central theme in many areas of modern life: health care, sport, politics, religion, education, industry and society at large. Cultural diversity is no more than rhetoric, however, unless people understand and appreciate diversity so that every cultural group is able to participate and develop autonomously within society.
