Opera singers have reported a range of spiritual experiences, as have audiences of music including opera. In the article I discuss the range of singer's experiences, review existing research into the emotional-spiritual impact of music on listeners, and provide an expansion of the explanatory frameworks so as to enable an enhanced level of understanding spirituality in relation to opera.
