We derive an elastic mode parabolic equation using the multiple-scale expansion method. The ratio of a typical wavelength to a typical size of horizontal inhomogeneities is chosen as a small parameter. The shear modulus is assumed to be of the order of the small parameter. The derived equation can be used for the efficient solution of the seismoacoustic propagation problems when the influence of elastic solid effects in the ocean bottom is essential.
