Intercultural Communication Competence Training through Network Platform and Field Training

Abstract

The last quarter of the 20th century has witnessed rapid development of the intercultural communication course in higher education. The article reviews the elements and significance of intercultural communication competence training, with special attention to the advantages of network teaching environment. It is argued that the intercultural course assisted by multimedia and network possesses unmeasured advantages over the traditional teaching pattern. The Multifunctional Intercultural Communication Training Platform, as the proof of this argument, is typical of rich resources, diverse functions, instant instructions and interactions, equal participation, and virtual training. Through MICTP and field training, learners can master general knowledge and various strategies of intercultural communication which assist them in growing up to be qualified intercultural individuals to accommodate the mega trend of globalization and internalization.
