Abstract

In this paper the hyperbolicity of a recently discovered warm-plasma model is proven, and the propagation speeds of discontinuity waves are calculated. These speeds, relative to the fluid, are 0, ±√7/15 ε, ±√3/5 ε, ±√1/3, where ε is a smallness parameter indicating the dispersion of the plasma particles.
