This paper provides an overview of existing ice slurry cooling applications, and highlights areas of research and development that could lead to future applications. The material presented is a compilation of information published in the open literature by designers, consultants, manufacturers and users of the technology. In many applications significant operating savings have been realised. With further research and development, the number of applications is likely to increase and the capital cost of equipment reduced. This is expected to increase the attractiveness of the technology to potential users. q 2004 Elsevier Ltd and IIR. All rights reserved.
