Abstract According to a suggestion made by F.P. Ramsey (1931), a conditional jfA then C is accepted (or assertible) according to an agent X if and only if the consequent C follows from the ‘minimal revision’ of X’s state of belief needed to accommodate the antecedent A. A belief state (or corpus, or theory) will here be represented by a set of sentences in some suitably regimented language closed under logical consequence.
