1. From 1948 to 1959 pollination and contamination trials of various cole crops (Brassica oleracea L.) were carried out. 2. On seed plots plants are largely pollinated with pollen from nearby plants. 3. The contamination which may occur at a certain distance can be considerably higher than formerly indicated by various investigators. 4. Trials of cauliflower have shown that a high degree of selfing naturally occurs in this crop. 5. A number of factors influencing interpollination are discussed.
