
We present here the results of the charcoal analyses from Unit II and Unit Vu from Azokh 1 Cave. The results from the anthracological study show a variable record with up to nine taxa, including variability within the identified genera or types. The most abundant taxon is Prunus, which represents 80% of the record in Unit II. The charcoal record from Azokh 1 shows a record including Prunus, Acer, Maloideae and Quercus sp. and other trees and shrubs. The taxa recorded were probably abundant in the landscape near the cave reflecting mild and humid environmental conditions. The charcoal is probably the remains of firewood used during the human occupations.
