Abstract

The article identifies the main models of contemporary Russian academic essays, which may be used in the preparation of students to pass the Russian language test TRKI-3. The authors compared patterns of the Russian academic essays and model English essays, that are studied in preparation for the IELTS test. Difference in the choice of verbal tactics shows the need of considering not only the type of speech strategy, but also the conceptual basis, type of referent, type of modal of the subject and the formal organization of the text.
