The article proposes a list of communicative strategies and tactics, often found in media texts and serving as one of the discourse markers of the texts of this variety. The tools are analyzed from the point of view of the way they perform their communicative functions. A strategy aimed at increasing, a narrative strategy and a strategy of frankness are identified as typical strategies of English-language newsletters of media discourse, the actualization of which shows stable dependence of emphatic means. Typical correlations of communicative strategies for newsletters include combinations of the narrative strategy as the main one and strategies aimed at increasing (less often – at decreasing) as an additional one or a strategy aimed at increasing as the main strategy and the strategy of frankness as an additional one. Grammatical method is a dominant way of expressing emphasis.
