This study aimed to understand the weeds in areas of perennial cultures. The experiment was conducted in the winter and summer at thefollowing agricultural areas: 1 – an area where bananas were grown for two years; 2 – an area where eucalyptus were grown during two years; 3 – an area where peaches were grown for three years; 4 – an area where nothing was grown for five years. In order to survey theweed community, the method of the square inventory was used, and the index for the degree of importance of each species was calculated. About 23 species of weeds were identified and Brachiaria decumbens and Commelina benghalensis were present in a significant way in all of the areas. The estimation for the amount of viable seeds was done by the direct germination of the seeds in the soil samples for 60 days. During the winter, the amount of viable seeds per m-2 was larger in the following areas: eucalyptus> banana> without cultivation > peach. The dominant families were Graminae and Amaranthaceae. In the second evaluation, the results were: without cultivation > peach > banana > eucalyptus. The dominant families were Cyperaceae and Graminae.
