Barents Sea is a unique basin of the Russian Arctic. It is a single hydrodynamic system with complex hydrological and climatic conditions. At the same time, the region of the Barents sea has certain anthropogenic impacts associated with the exploration, production and development of the oil fields in the surrounding area. Physical characteristics of the Barents-Kara region are mainly determined by its location in the Polar region (Arctic), as well as certain climate effects: global warming influence coming from the North Atlantic. The interaction between these factros initiates great variability of the meteorological parameters during the year. The paper discusses some of the environmental problems in the Barents sea region.
