POZOSTAŁY MATERIAŁ. “ Brachiopa arcuata; 17.” (brak daty, autora i lokalizacji), 1 ♂, coll. ISEZ PAN Kraków. ROZMIESZCZENIE. Rzadki gatunek znany ze środkowej i wschodniej części Europy: Austria (THOMPSON 1980), Rumunia (BRÄDESCU 1991), Niemcy (DZIOCK 1999), Serbia (VUJIĆ et AL. 2001), Czechy i Słowacja (MAZÁNEK 2009), Węgry (TÓTH 2011) Ukraina (PROKHOROV et AL. 2018) oraz Polska (niniejsza praca). Na skrzydłach tego gatunku występują plamki, których brak u innych europejskich przedstawicieli rodzaju, co czyni go bardzo charakterystycznym. B. maculipennis została wymieniona w wykazie krajowych gatunków Syrphidae (SOSZYŃSKI 2007) na podstawie odnotowanych w tej pracy stwierdzeń z Wielkopolski. Gatunek spotykany był w lasach o charakterze łęgowym, gdzie najczęściej muchówki te siadały na pniach żywych drzew. Okres lotu imagines przypada na kwiecień i maj. Odwiedza kwiaty kruszyny (SPEIGHT 2010), a w Polsce odłowiono go na kwitnącej czeremsze zwyczajnej Prunus padus. 149 150
