The article explores the theoretical practical aspect of graduate competitiveness in higher education institutions. In the study, the concepts of competitiveness, higher education competitiveness and competitiveness of a graduate of a higher educational institution were systematized on the basis of the approaches of foreign and domestic scientists. At the same time, the main indicators of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2012-2021 were analyzed and the trends of change were evaluated. The factors affecting the level of competitiveness of graduates in the specialty they are studying at Fergana State University were evaluated through factors combined into 4 groups based on the main parameters determining the prestige of universities.
