Abstract

We compare deploying additional optical amplification sites with deploying Raman pumps in existing sites to increase the capacity of 20-THz optical systems. Results show that deploying Raman pumps is a cost-effective solution to increase system capacity while equalizing the optical performance of transmitted bands.
