This article shows the relationship between Michel Foucault's thought and modernity, a relationship that can be established from the analysis of practices of existence in the lessons of the author's last years of life. That way, we try to show how in the questioning to the modernity subject as a subject of knowledge, appears a way of contact between the historical ontology of the subject, modernity and the Western tradition.
