Abstract

albipennis (Say) Olfersia albipennis Say, 1823: 101. Lynchia albipennis: Bequaert 1933: 134 [records]; Bequaert 1955: 337 [records]; Linsley & Usinger 1966: 173 [checklist]; Guimar„es 1968: 5 [catalogue]. Ornithoponus intertropicus of authors (misidentification): Johnson 1924: 91 [records]; Curran 1932: 366 [record]. Distribution. Native. Cosmopolitan; Galápagos: Fernandina, Genovesa, Santa Cruz, Santiago, Seymour. Remarks. This species is primarily a parasite of wading birds (Ciconiiformes), especially herons (Bequaert 1933).
