For the first time the taxonomic summary of the Trifolium L genus was given according to the information obtained frotn expeditions, analysis of herbarium materials and literature data. The presence of 39 species and 14 varicties of clover (Trifolium L sl), belonging to 4 subgenus and 9 sections, was established. The information wa presented on priority names, sources of origin, major synionyns, nomenciatural types, geographic types, phenophases biotopes, ecomorphs, chromosome number and signifcance. It is emphasized that further research is needed to clarify the status of a number of disputed clover species and their distribution in the region
