Abstract

21. * Eugenia colipensis O.Berg, Linnaea 29: 243 (1858) EOO: 2,429.969 km ². AOO: 16 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Endangered. Eugenia colipensis is endemic to Mexico and has a restricted distribution within the state of Veracruz and only known from 5 collections. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) fall into the thresholds of Endangered category under the criterion B. The type of biome in which the species occurs is the Humid Tropical Forest. There are inferred only four well known locations and all of them have different ongoing threats. The species’ habitat is under very high threat due to the region’s agricultural history and urban development, these factors are the major threats (CONABIO 2018) from which is inferred a continuing decline of habitat quality. Eugenia colipensis is classified as Endangered (EN) as it meets this category under the criteria B1ab(iii)+B2ab(iii). Specimen examined:— MEXICO. Veracruz: Velasco 768 (MEXU!).
