メロディの覚えやすさに関する分析

Abstract

メロディを形容する言葉に「キャッチー」がある.英英辞典には catchy は「a catchy tune or phrase is easy to remember」と説明されており、覚えやすさや思 い出しやすさに関する言葉であるとされている.しかし,どのようなメロディが 覚えやすい/思い出しやすいかは,明らかではない. 本研究では,メロディの「覚えやすさ」の定量化を目指し,メロディの特徴と 「覚えやすさ」の関係を明らかにすることを目的とする.我々は聴いたことのある 定型のパターンと,印象深さを生む定型外の要素のバランスがメロディの「覚え やすさ」には重要であり,前者に加えて後者が適度に入ることで,メロディの覚え やすさが向上するという仮説を立てた.後者の要素として裏拍,跳躍進行,ノン ダイアトニックに着目し,これらが含まれるメロディとこれらを意図的に削除し たメロディを両方聴いたときに,両者の覚えやすさに差が生まれるかを検証した. 実験は,記憶課題による再認実験として実施した.第一段階と第二段階にて構 成し,実験参加者は,第一段階はメロディの記憶段階として 12 個のメロディを聴 取し,第二段階を再認段階として ,12 個のメロディを聴取し,第一段階で聴いた かどうかを答えた. 実験結果より,裏拍からは,「符点八分音符+符点八分音符+八分音符」というリ ズムパターンを持つメロディは高い再認結果が得られ,このリズムパターンは「覚 えやすさ」に寄与していると考えられた.跳躍進行からは,5 度以上の上方向の 跳躍進行を持つメロディは,高い再認結果が得られたものが多く,我々の仮説を 支持する結果となった.また,跳躍進行の個数と加工前正答率に 0.61 の相関があり,これも我々の仮説を支持する結果と言えた.ノンダイアトニックからは,メ ロディのアクセントとしてよく用いられるブルーノートが,メロディの覚えやす さに寄与しているという検証結果が得られた.また,同音連打を多く用いたメロ ディは,いずれも高い再認結果が得られており,こちらもメロディの覚えやすさ に寄与していると言えた.
