Literacy rate defines the percentage of the population of a given age group that can read and write. Literacy is the ability to read, write, speak and listen in a way that allows us to communicate effectively and understand the world. Higher literacy rates are associated with healthier populations, lower crime, greater economic growth, and higher employment rates. For an individual, literacy is the foundational skill needed to acquire advanced skills. These in turn provide higher wages and more employment in labor markets. The literacy rate of Jalgaon district is increasing from 2001 to 2022. The decadal literacy rate has increased to 64.66%, 68.37% and 74.31% respectively during 2001 to 2022.
