Radopholus similis is a species of tropical and subtropical climatic zones, where it occurs under natural conditions. Since climatic conditions in Poland are very different from those characterizing the nematode's area of natural occurrence, it will not pose a threat to field crops. The species is unlikely to survive below temperatures of 0oC. However, crops grown in soil in heated greenhouses remain at risk. The nematode can also pose a problem for potted ornamental plants in apartments, where conditions suitable for its development will be maintained.
