Dominican Republic is one of the Small Island Developing States declared by the UN in 1994, is highly vulnerable from a geographical and economic point of view. Climate change and the high dependency on fossil fuel imports are the main causal agents of this vulnerability. In 2020 85% of electricity in Dominican Republic was generated from fossil fuels. This exercise aims to use OSEMOSYS and ClicSAND framework to answer the next questions: 1) Since the new projects, will Dominican Republic be able to supply at least 25% of the demand by 2030 from Renewable Energy Sources, as it is said in Law 57-07? 2) In a zero-emissions scenario, which could be the best transition commodity for Dominican Republic?
