6.1. Handroanthus albus (Chamisso 1832: 655) Mattos (1970: 1) (Figs. 8 a–b, 9 a). Diagnosis:— Handroanthus albus can be recognized by the strongly discolored leaflets abaxially (vs. discolored in other Handroanthus species). Reproductive Period:— Flowers were collected in August, September, and December, fruiting in December. Distribution and Habitat:— It occurs in Argentina and Brazil (Gentry 1992, Lohmann 2010). Within the study area, it was registered in Céu Azul and in Foz do Iguaçu, only collected on the edges of the ParNa Iguaçu. This species is not registered as occurring for Seasonal Semideciduous Forest on the Flora do Brasil platform, indicating a new occurrence for this vegetation type, since it was only found in Foz do Iguaçu for the ParNa Iguaçu.
