Wing landmarking separates the few known specimens. The wing is distinctive in this species, with its relatively long costa, 0.46 of wing length versus 0.41 for M. paulizona, as well as the yellowish-brown forecoxa (dark brown in M. paulizona). This species is in BOLD as BOLD:ADH5444. Distribution. Costa Rica. Etymology. Named for Costa Rican Museo Nacional Diptera curator Maricelle Méndez Soto.
