En este artículo se describe el estilo de enseñanza que los docentes de educación primaria en Japón utilizan con regularidad para impartir sus clases de matemáticas. Dicha metodología posee un carácter activo y reflexivo que mantiene a los estudiantes ―pensando por periodos de tiempo considerable‖. En el documento se incluyen anécdotas y fotografías tomadas en distintas escuelas de Japón durante el periodo de observación o investigación (aproximadamente 2 años).
