CVH combines CTC (Crosstalk-Cancellation) for the direct sound reproduction, VBAP (Vector-Base Amplitude Panning) for the early reflections and HOA (Higher Order Ambisonics) for the diffuse decay. The combination uses the precise sound source localization characteristics from the CTC reproduction while maintaining a more stable and less colored perception provided by VBAP and HOA for the reflections. The use of a low order Ambisonics system is used for a perception of more envelopment by reverberation. The direct sound reproduction is done via the Binaural Free-Field (BFF) Renderer in VA (Virtual Acoustics), the early reflections are pre-calculated in RAVEN (Room Acoustics for Virtual Environments) and defined by the used image source order. They are presented via a VBAP decoding provided by RAVEN. The late reverberant part is the result of the Ray-Tracing simulation and encoded in RAVEN, decoded in the provided MATLAB scripts. During playback VA will adapt the direct sound and the CTC reproduction while ensuring synchroneity to the VBAP and HOA, which allow the user to move without changing the reproduction. See the documentation file for a detailed overview.
