Abstract Advancement in science and technology, the importance of bioconversion of industrial waste into value added products through biotechnological route, to make the process economic and environment responsive, green waste can be used as substrate in fermentation processes as an inexpensive raw material. The production of lactic acid from green waste using the bio fermentation method. The possible relationship between the operational factor, temperature, pH and duration of fermentation on lactic acid production as the response was determined. Lactic acid is an organic compound produced via fermentation by different microorganisms that are able to use different carbohydrate source. Lactic acid bacteria and among these, lactobacillus spp. Have been showing interesting fermentation capacities. This review provides comprehensive on the recent advance in production of lactic acid utilizing green waste/by products.
