This article addresses the situation of fishing activities in the Mazarrón Bay. It presents an analysis of the changes that took place in recent decades in this economic sector as a result of technological innovations, looking at different variables to examine these changes in the fishing industry in Mazarron Bay, in the broader context of the Murcia Region. The results show that there have been significant socio-economic transformations in the Mazarron Bay fishing activities, and that the area is a regional leader in the sector, both in the number of workers employed and in the fishing catches. The article also discusses the potential of fishing tourism as a possibility to generate sustainable territorial development in the region.
