The study aimed to determine if there is an association between Virtual Out-of-Class Study Groups (VOSG) and perceived academic stress among students. Simple random sampling was utilized to gather the respondents, composed of 1st and 2nd year students from a public university. This study is a cross-sectional study design and data were gathered in the form of validated questionnaires. It was found that 50% of the respondents have heavy PAS, the prevalence of which is more common in females than males. The respondents who use VOSG were found to be 0.72 times less likely to have heavy PAS compared to those who prefer independent studying; p-value is at 0.055 and is therefore not statistically significant. The study has found that participation in VOSG has 28% protective effect against development of high PAS. Stratified analysis determined that sex, age, and socioeconomic status are not confounding variables. The investigators recommend expanding the study to other year levels to increase the external validity of the study.
