D5.3: Analysis of PBIS Requirement for ARETE - Update D5.1

Abstract

This deliverable updates the work done for Task 5.1. ‘AR Interactivity Requirements & Specification for PBIS system: Validation of values, behavioural expectations, reinforcement systems in European PBS-schools’ and Task 5.2 ‘Design and development of PBIS Behavioural Lessons’. This deliverable updates the description of D5.1. and describes the specifics for the design of Pilot 3 for studying the impact of AR on students’ self-regulation skills and behavioural management skills within the framework of School-wide Positive Behaviour Interventions and Support. The aim of this deliverable is to provide an update of the design, validating, and testing of the behavioural lessons developed by teachers of PBIS primary schools and PBIS experts based on a shortlist of values and behavioural expectations collected via an online survey in European PBIS schools. An initial design of a non-AR behavioural intervention package consisting of nine behavioural lessons was completed and tested in pre-test post-test intervention design with six Dutch PBIS primary schools and one Italian PBIS primary and middle school. As mentioned in D5.1, the planned control condition was replaced by this additional PBIS intervention condition in the school year 2021-2022. This part of the study started in the winter of 2021 with recruited PBIS-schools and is still ongoing at the time of the writing of this deliverable 5.3. Chapter 1 introduces this deliverable furthered by Chapter 2 in which all nine behavioural lessons are briefly described. In Chapter 3 the additional PBIS intervention condition is introduced by a detailed narrative of a content-similar traditional PBIS intervention in the adjustment school year 2021-2022 (i.e., PBIS21 condition). Preliminary results are presented of the pre-test assessment with students and the teachers’ evaluations of each of the behavioural lessons are summarised. Chapter 4 focuses on the preparation of the PBIS22 research design. In the annexes the non-AR behavioural lessons can be found in English, Dutch, and Italian and also the detailed evaluations of the teachers.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 856533.
