Abstract

Siyar-al'ârifîn. سير العارفين This manuscript is now IO Islamic 1751 in the India Office collections. [metadata: Hermann Ethé, Catalogue of Persian Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office, 2 vols. (Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1, number 638 here with notations and hyperlinks]. 638 Another copy of the same. This copy contains only thirteen biographies, which completely agree with those in [Charles] Rieu’s copy [Or. 215], viz. I. on fol. 3b; 2. wanting; 3. on fol.13a; 4. On fol. 33b; 5. on fol. 43b; 6. on fol. 65a;7. on fol.74b ; 8. on fol. 98b ; 9. on fol. 104a ;10. on fol. 110b ; 11. on fol.115a; 12. on fol. 121b ; 13. on fol.125b ; 14. on fol.132b. The work ends on fol. 142b [ed note: it appears to end at folio 144r ]; the remaining pages (ff.142b-164a) are filled with various traditions and tales of Khalîfs, saints, etc., in the same handwriting [ed note: the hand at the beginning of the mss is different, folio 1 v]. No date. No. 1751, ff. 164, ll. 19; Nasta’lîḳ; waterspots; size, 87/8 in. by 51/2 in. [ed note: The notations on the opening folio suggest the manuscipt was in Aurangabad in AH 1144/1731-32 CE] [ed note: Quick link to other copies of this work.] [ed note: Carries seal of the East India Company Library.]
