Dheeran chinnamalai (1756 - 1805)a courageous Indian freedom fighters from Tamilnadu. He fought many battle with Haider Ali, then Mysore king and the British army. Dheeran chinnamalai was such a bold man who never experiences the fear. It was not an easy job to enter into his province of kongu nadu. The British able to identify him only because of the leaked information from his own disloyal cook. He fight for his home town till the last breath. He is not as well known as Katta Pomman. He was a forgotten hero in the annals of the Tamil History. He is a Kongu Tamil who fought against the British invaders and sacrificed his life in July 1805 for the sake of freedom. It is in the fitness of things that the Tamil Nadu Government decided to honour this unhonoured and unsung hero by naming a transport corporation after him as it had done in the case of Marudu Pandiyar and Kattabomman. The buses which will run bearing his name, will make the people remember this valiant fighter and sing his glory for a long, long time to come.
