Abstract

Se explora descriptivamente el fenómeno de la segunda revolución industrial y su relación con la pesca del atún en la ciudad de Manta, Ecuador. Manta llegó a ser conocida como la capital mundial del atún en el siglo XX, y las transformaciones de este fenómeno pueden percibirse desde la cantonización de San Pablo de Manta, hasta el origen y desarrollo de la pesca del atún con fines de exportación. Metodológicamente hemos consultado fuentes transversales, como entrevistas personales, fuentes bibliográficas y documentales, de diferentes archivos internacionales, nacionales y locales.
