Engineering advancements and innovations are progressing at an ever-increasing pace. As a result, engineering teachers must adapt to changing circumstances. Because engineering education, and the engineering profession more broadly, advances best when challenges are identified early and well managed, opportunities are sought and, where possible, exploited beneficially, and future trends are speculated on based on logical assessments and reasoned arguments, a reasoned response to such pressures is essential. The presenter's perspectives in this essay are based on his experiences as an engineering educator, administrator, and practitioner and his observations of future trends in engineering education and a variety of associated issues and possibilities. This is an important issue since the obstacles and possibilities that engineering education faces and future trends significantly impact its growth. The presentation aims to enhance engineering education by raising awareness of these difficulties among engineering educators and others and encouraging active discussion and debate of alternative solutions.
