Resumo: Este trabalho coloca questões relativas à formação do homem, buscando discutir o papel assumido pela educação científica e pela razão face ao crescimento da intolerância e dos conflitos violentos em todo o mundo. Em um primeiro momento, aborda-se o utopismo enquanto dimensão do espírito humano, buscando-se analisar argumentos pró e contra as construções utópicas. Posteriormente, tendo em vista as utopias pedagógicas pensadas por Rousseau e Bachelard, idéias nucleares dos dois autores são confrontadas, apontando-se, a título de conclusão, alternativas que permitam enfrentar a crise de saberes, normas e valores que vem conduzindo a vida social nos dias de hoje. Palavras-chave: utopia, razão, educação científica, epistemologia, conhecimento científico Scientific Education and Utopia: Thinking about Man's Formation from Rosseau's and Bachelard's Contribuitions Abstract: This paper presents issues attached to man's formation focusing the role assumed by reason and scientific education face to face the increase of violence and intolerance all around the world. First, we discuss utopianism as a dimension of human spirit, aiming to analyze arguments in favor of utopia and against it. Afterwards, considering Rousseau's and Bachelard's pedagogic utopian thinking main ideas of both authors are compared, trying to point out alternatives able to confront the crisis of knowledges, norms and values which is conducting social life nowadays.
