The present discussion paper examines trends in the agri-food trade by focusing on six agri-food products traded globally namely: Wine, Dairy, Beef, Pork, Poultry, and Coffee. The study analyses global trade trends of these agri-food products and the impact of socioeconomic factors [such as GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and common language], geographical distance, various trade policies (e.g., tariffs, and non-tariff measures such as Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards, Technical Barriers to Trade and other non-tariff measures), and regimes [e.g., trade agreements, trade between the EU (European Union) and the rest of the World, EU-Africa, and EU-UK] on their trade flows.
