This research was carried out for the completion of a Magister thesis in teaching at the Italian language department, Badji Mokhtar University of Annaba-Algeria, in order to show the importance and role of humor in the class of Italian as a foreign language for Algerian students. We collected the data after using the questionnaires by involving teachers and learners and we tried to analyze the relevance, the effectiveness of the use of humor in the classroom and above all its contribution to motivate the students also considering the possible risks deriving from the cultural differences.
